The Wasque 26 is a versatile family boat that combines high technology with proven traditional design aesthetics and seakeeping ability. The Wasque 26 is ideally suited for fishing, island hopping, regatta watching, sunset cruises, and the occasional overnight. The Wasque 26 traces its lineage to the Downeast-style Bass Boats built to ply the often-boisterous waters of Buzzard`s Bay and Nantucket Sound. In the 1970s, the renowned John Alden Co. was asked to design a versatile, fiberglass bass / picnic boat incorporating the best features of the classic New England Bass Boat with an aesthetically pleasing, easily driven hull form. Wasque 26s were finished by a variety of builders, some for commercial use, but mostly as family picnic and fishing boats. These craft are known for their seaworthiness and are much beloved by their owners, rarely appearing on the resale market.
The Wasque 26 is a handsome, wholesome, able yacht that will reward her owner when she drives easily through a three-foot chop, when he sees her riding daintily on her mooring, and significantly, when the times comes to offer her for resale. The Wasque 26`s easily driven hull shape makes very little fuss going through the water. Her standard engine will drive her at 20 knots cruise at 2400 rpm, 24 knots top speed, and optional engines push her to over 30 knots. She is dry, stable, and comfortable in a seaway, but maneuverable and predictable in tight quarters. Her large cockpit can accommodate family and guests for picnic outings while her beautifully finished interior invites the occasional weekend cruise.
