Boat Description

The addition of a light weight all aluminum poling platform not only looks good but it gives the angler a high perch to spot fish cruising the flats. Also included in the package are cockpit lights, tackle station with 4 removable trays, pop up bow light and cleat, stainless steel rub rail and glare reducing two tone deck. The modified V-hull gives it a nice smooth ride. While the delta pad combined with 3 lifting strakes, a large reverse chine and lightweight high tech construction give it performance unlike any other vessel in its class. It�€™s ability to plane out quickly helps water skiers get up easily and fishermen get on plane in the shallows. The full length reverse chine knocks spray down and out to keep you dry. With the safety of a bay boat and the shallow water ability of a flats boat the Helms 17 Flats Edition is ready to go. Whether you are poling a grass flat for bonefish, an oysterbar for redfish, or head out for little tunny the Helms 17 Flats Editon can do it all. It is also loaded with features that will please the hardcore angler and his wife. Such as plumbed oval live well, seating for 5, lots of dry storage, built in cooler, self bailing deck, automatic bilge pump, unsinkable, and a large console.

The Deck has a surprising amount of room for this size of boat with plenty of storage to keep it clear. Starting at the transom there is a large splash well to contain any backwash and keep it out of the boat. On each side of the splash well is a jump seat with storage under. Moving forward is a flip back helm seat with plumbed oval live well inside. The console has plenty of room to flush mount electronics and has dry storage within. A cooler is built into the front of the console. The bow has a fish box underneath the casting platform. The deck is self-bailing at rest and all hatches are watertight or guttered with drains, nothing is drained into the bilge.

The Heavy Duty Electrical system uses circuit breakers instead of fuses on the switch panel. Waterproof inline fuses protect the entire system at the battery, one for the switch panel and one for the bilge pump float switch. All of the wire is marine grade tined copper and heat-shrink waterproof connectors are used for the best durability.
