The mission for the Oyster 56 was to design a world class cruising yacht developing the proven features and characteristics of current Oysters, blended with further innovation, which would appeal to bluewater cruising yachtsmen well into the next century.
To fully test and refine the design we commissioned 56-02 Oystercatcher XXII and sailed 27,000 miles in just over twenty months, crossing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and winning class A in the ARC and cruising class 1 in Antigua Week in the process. Empowered by experience, CAD and the sheer effort that has gone into this project, the Oyster Design Team believe the 56 sets totally new standards as the first Oyster Design Team/Humphreys addition to the range.
